Beach evening primrose, or dune primrose, is a low-growing plant can be found all over Dewees Island wherever there are sandy soils. It blooms from April to October. The bloom is about 3″ wide. The plant is common on barrier islands, but according to Richard Porcher’s A Guide to the Wildflowers of South Carolina, may have been introduced here long ago.
