We’re sure thrilled that there’s a new Sullivan’s Island farmer’s market on Thursdays, bringing fresh vegetables, cheese, pasta, crafts, and music out here to the islands. I had a chance to stop in last week and really enjoyed myself. Currently it’s open April 7 through June 30th, but I hope they’ll end up going longer in the year.

It opens at 2:30 pm, and it’s all the way down near Sullivan’s Island Elementary school. I parked at the fire lot. There was a fun, festive atmosphere, with music and dancing and flowers and a food truck from The Charleston Bird. This truck is often along Coleman Blvd, and I can’t wait to try all the fried chicken they promise.

Grace Newland’s homemade tortilla’s from Mitla Tortilleria. Grace makes tortillas from scratch the old fashioned way, and they look amazing, with flavors that change every week. Along with the Sullivan’s Island farmers market, she sells her tortillas in Mount Pleasant on Tuesdays. And pasta from Rio Bertolini is one of the best things to keep in your freezer. I love all of their different flavors of ravioli, especially the blue cheese gorgonzola. And the lasagne is fabulous!
Olinda Olive Oil has olive blends and olive oil you can re-order in large gallon containers.

Other Vendors include The Charleston Artisan Cheese House. Gelati Moto . Addie Mae’s Cakery.

Blue Pearl Farms, which is in McLellanville and has blueberries in season and this gorgeous honey. (It’s delicious, I promise!)

Wishbone Heritage Farms was there with forest raised pork and pastured chicken and turkey, as well as lamb and beef. They also carry raw honey and eggs. You can pre-order here (use the promo code SULLIVANS to arrange to pick-up at the farmers market.)

Stop in this week and see what is there: okra and onions, strawberries and clams, squash and fairy gardens: there is always something fun to discover!
