Thanksgiving on Dewees is often the dividing line between our warm autumn and chillier winter weather. This year, the week started with a cold front, but by Thanksgiving, temperatures were in the mid-70’s and the light was just beautiful for photography. The fish were biting, and all over the island golf carts cruised (or limped) by with giggles and a sense of joyous adventure. From enjoying sunrise on the beach with neighbors, to celebrating as fish were caught, to sunset dolphin cruises, to welcoming new families, we have so much to be thankful for on Dewees. One of my favorite things is riding around the island and catching up with neighbors. Carey Sullivan at Serendipity says, “Thanksgiving on Dewees is my favorite time on the island. All the wonderful aspects of Dewees…long beach walks, lots of nature sightings, and time with family…only minus the heat, sunscreen and bug spray! It doesn’t get any better!”
Here are a smattering of photos from multiple perspectives around the island this weekend. Put together, they speak volumes of gratitude.
