Young Raccoons

Sometimes, it’s fun to hang out in one spot and see what you can see.  I was looking at a tree and saw the tiniest of hands along the edge; baby raccoons were asleep in the crook of the tree.

Every so often, a leg would move, and eventually I could see a tiny face on the other side:

more ears are visible, and a tiny face below the main branch
or a little leg reaching up in the air.

The hum of the cicadas, and the calls of a nearby osprey were the lullaby for these little guys.

So I waited until they moved around some, and two got up and explored the branch above:

waking up
camouflage
stretching
looking around for hawks
exploring
exploring
meeting siblings on the higher branch

And finally, all three were tangled up back in the nest.
