We have been working on this new Dewees Island Movie for a while– we first hired Yonder Blue Films in January 2013 to capture some of the beauty of Dewees Island in a marketing video. Over time, we became so impressed with the production skills of Ben Rowland and Will Wheeler (and we had so much fun making movies with them) that we embarked on a joint project with the Dewees Island POA. We felt like we had a bunch of information out there which explained the what and where of Dewees Island, but as a realtor I kept getting questions about the who and why of Dewees. This production uses interviews with residents and a wide variety of footage of the island (including aerials) shot over the last few years. Missing the island? Here’s 5 minutes of happy to share with your friends.
The Dewees Island’s annual POA meeting is a gathering of all owners in March each year. We begin with a party on Friday night, and start early on Saturday morning with a meeting of the Dewees Utility Corporation and reports from the island manager and various committees. This year, our theme for 2015 was shorebirds, and the Dewees Island Conservancy helped with the art for last nights event. After the meetings and elections on Saturday, we greet one another at an oyster roast under the Huyler House with catering provided by Noisy Oyster.
