July 4 Celebrations

July 4 is always an exciting time to be on Dewees.  The annual beach run and party is always a hit.  It was followed by the golf cart parade, which had a record number of spectators.  (I think I counted 11, but there were another hundred people in 35 carts in the parade.) And then the ice cream social, followed by the Salute from the Shore Flyover, followed by fireworks from the docks. (We don’t have our own, we just watch IOP’s, Sullivan’s, Mount Pleasant’s, and Charleston’s.)  And even though the sandcastle contest was rained out, a few intrepid members ignored the sign and made some incredible sand sculpture.

You can see each photo larger by clicking on it, but if you want to print or download your own copies, the large versions of the beach run are found here at smugmug, and the cart parade is here.

Judy and Reggie, What an amazing collage of photos! You make Dewees shine and share it with the world (and me too!) through your writing and photographs. Just seeing the photos makes me long for the days on Dewees to never end with my wife and young children. You two are wonderful with your dedication to everything Dewees. We love you guys. A million thank yous to you!
