Wreckage of light aircraft still on the beach

Forensics teams and other inspectors were on the beach this morning investigating the remains of a light experimental craft that crashed off the Ancient Dunes beach area yesterday.  Our hearts go out to the families of those who lost their lives yesterday afternoon, and our thanks go to all the various agencies and first responders who arrived to help.  Island manager Kim Knight returned to the island as soon as he got the call, and was able to help coordinate efforts of the various government agencies.  Certainly Joe, our public safety officer, Robert, our new deckhand, and the two DNR guys who spent the night on a steamy, buggy beach deserve kudos for their dedication!

My prayers have gone out to these families. Such a tragedy!! Randy is still working with the Sheriff’s office on the incident. Guess it’s going to be a while before it is finished
