Bubber McAlhaney published an excellent photo gallery called Birds of Dewees Island.
Dewees is very lucky to be at the southern tip of the largest track of lightly or completely undeveloped barrier islands in the Eastern Flyway. Nearly 350 species of birds can be seen on Dewees at different times of year.
Try to visit the island at different times of year so you can see the all many kinds of birds. If you’re new to birding, stop by the nature center or call ahead to make arrangements to have a guided birding trip.
