While out on the Audubon winter bird count, Environmental Program Director Lori Sheridan Wilson came across the fox that has been reported on the Island recently. She saw a faint, but distinct white tip on the fox’s tail and white “booties” on its feet. These markings mean it’s a red fox, not a gray fox. Both foxes can have very red coats.
The island environmental team will try to determine if there is more than one fox on the island. If you have additional sightings or photographs, please let us know.
