Team Dewees raising money to fight Leukemia

The Leukemia Cup Regatta charity event is in early October.  Please take a minute to contribute to this great cause.

Established in 1999 by a group of Dewees Island property owners & employees, Team Dewees has raised $206,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Society is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.

We participate in the Regatta in honor of a young Leukemia survivor and in memory of family members and friends who have lost their battle with Leukemia. More than 823,000 Americans are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes and we need your support to help accelerate cures and provide hope and support for patients and their families. Did you know that:

  • Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every ten minutes, someone dies.
  • Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young people under age 20.
  • Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers.
  • The myeloma survival rate is only 34 percent.

Please make a donation to support our participation in the Leukemia Cup Regatta.  You can donate online at  http://www.active.com/donate/Leukemiacupsc/lcrJLucas
