They’re Back! Bald Eagles on the Platform

At dusk last night, I looked over at the Bald Eagle platform and it looked bigger than usual. I was not wearing glasses, and I was drinking wine, so I grabbed my telescope and sure enough, there was a pair of bald eagles bringing sticks in and glaring out over Old House Lagoon. It’s substantially earlier than previous years. The first time we watched them was in December of 2011, and by Valentines Day of that year, they were tending an egg. Last year they arrived in the second week of October. And here they are, surprising us again. This morning they were gathering sticks and placing them on the platform. I could (almost) line up the iphone for a photo through the scope:

    I saw them when I came in the other night and emailed Laurie b/c i was worried about getting that damaged pole replaced asap. She says she has the go ahead. Gleeep
