We have a lot going on on Dewees in the summer months. Ever wish you could get a text message reminding you of programs? Now you can. We have enrolled in a computer generated texting system called sendhub that you can enroll in for free. And we have two possible groups that you might want messages from.
If you want a message any time there is a turtle event: a crawl, a nest, a hatching, or an inventory, you want to join the group turtleteam. (No Spaces!) If you want to get a message anytime there is a program, like beach games, or seining, or the July 4th parade, you would join the group Dewees. You can join both groups, or just one, and you can cancel at any time.
Here’s how to do it: To get the turtle updates: Open your phone to compose a text message. Enter the number 843-536-0020. In the the actual part where you would compose a message, text the word turtleteam (remember, no spaces– if your autocorrect automatically fills in the spaces, use your finger to click the little x to over-ride it.) You’ll get a response that looks like the picture. To unsubscribe to turtle updates, send a text to the same number with the word UNSUBturtleteam.
To Get Program Updates: Open your phone to compose a text message. Enter the number 843-536-0020. In the the actual part where you would compose a message, text the word Dewees. To STOP all messages (like when you go home and DO NOT want to know about a turtle nest at 6:15 am), just text the word STOP to 843-536-0020.

- 10:30am- Crabbing at Crab Dock
- 12:00 pm PF Changs delivery order due to Martin by midday
- 1:30pm- CREEK FLOAT off of BIG BEND DOCK BYOF(floatables) Play at your own risk: parents are in charge of their own children. Wear water shoes, bring floatables, a whistle, hat… Takes at least an hour. Ends at Lone Cedar Dock– if you have two carts, leave one there!

Wednesday, July 3
- 6:30am- Turtle Walk at Osprey Walk: sign up in the nature center, walk to the left for about an hour; bring water
- 10:30am- Seining at Caper’s Inlet
- 1:30pm- Celebrate the 4th with Base/softball on the Beach! at Ancient Dunes
Thursday, July 4
- 6:30am- Turtle Walk at Osprey Walk: sign up in the nature center, walk to the left for about an hour; bring water
- 8:30am- Bubber’s Beach Race (no watches allowed) at NeedleRush Walk followed by Jan’s Brunch
- 11:30am- Gold Cart Parade, Ice Cream Social, Start at Fire Station
- 1:20pm- Salute from the Shore at Ancient Dunes Walkway: wear red, white, and blue to salute the troops, bring flags, etc. This year, due to the sequester, they are using vintage planes and are less able to predict fly-over times
- 9:00 Dark Fireworks at Ferry Dock or Mosers
