We had a blast filming with the guys from Yonder Blue Films when they were here in January. They put up this video to show the highlights from that shoot, and we have been thrilled with the reception it’s received and their ability to tell the story of Dewees with incredible footage. So thrilled, in fact, that we hired them to come back again so we could showcase the island in the summer. If you’ve forgotten, even for the tiniest moment, how special Dewees Island is, you’ll remember when you see the fantastic footage they got.

Ben and Will film with a Panasonic Lumix attached to a multirotor helicopter that flies 10-20 feet off the ground. They can get some terrific footage this way, and they had an incredible couple of days to capture the magic of Dewees in the summertime. Owners and guests, renters and staff had a chance to be in the movie at some point or another. We really appreciate all those who helped us. And all the forces cooperated: the weather was perfect with low humidity and low breezes, actors showed up to play on the beach and jump off big bend, a turtle deposited a nest right near an access path– we had a great day!

I filmed them filming, and even borrowed a few seconds of footage to give you a sneak peak. In case you missed it, here’s a glimpse of what’s to come, mixed in with my footage of them and their copter. We can’t wait to see what Will and Ben put together for us this time, and know everything will look much more professional in their capable editing hands. Meanwhile, I couldn’t resist throwing a few scenes together for you.
