Bald Eagles Rebuilding Nest

We have been thrilled by the shadows of adult Bald Eagles swooping over the impoundment in the last week, and yesterday, I looked out over the impoundment to see them on the Osprey Platform where they built a nest last year.  Last year, however, it was much later in the year when they started to take sticks up to the platform, so it looks like they are staking their claim early this season. We only ever see them there at night and in the early morning, but there are many more sticks on the platform than there had been earlier this spring.  They seem to be hunting and foraging during the day and then returning to roost at night.  This morning I headed over just after sunrise to see them closer.

Rather strange, also, is the fact that the Kennedy osprey platform is having the same activity with the osprey building a rather large nest. AND we’ve seen them mating. Perhaps the unusual weather this year has caused a change in patterns???

Love the pin it feature. Goes right to my Dewees Island board. Thanks
