Check out the island manager’s blog for more photos
of the latest project on the island to improve services. As part of SCE&G’s plan to repair the wire that stretches over the creek leading to the rice trunk, our crew is assisting with burying power lines on the island.
This is actually BIG news. As part of the plan, the poles on both ends of the island should be replaced with an underground, tunneled line. That means that it will be much easier to restore power to the island in the event of some sort of large storm that knocks out the poles. I think that new regulations would require replacement power lines to go underground anyway, and in the event of an emergency, we won’t have to wait until the lines to Dewees get placed on a priority list.
