Get out your fife! This Friday the Archives committee has a special treat for Happy Hour! We’ll begin at the Landings building (appropriately) and prepare for a British invasion.
We’ll have a live Revolutionary war re-enactor on hand to discuss the roles that South Carolinians played in that war– (don’t worry, he’s on our side!) We’ll learn more about that cannonball that washed up on the North Beach that dates back to the revolutionary war (likely offloaded as ballast!) We’ll march the captured British to a prison off-site (Jill’s house) and enjoy foods from the time period– sweet potato pone, scones, salmon, etc. Did you know that more revolutionary war battles were fought in South Carolina than any other state??? Come learn more as we celebrate with friends and neighbors.
That’s Friday, October 8th, 5:30 pm., at the Landings Building, Archives exhibit area.

Hey Judy, This is great to hear that you are doing. I was wondering who the reenactor you got was. I am the Commander of the 2nd SC regiment for Rev War Reenacting. I might know the guy. Also, I know of several people who would show up to do a firing demo sometime. Maybe even a light infantry demo on the helicopter landing pad.
Hi Jonathan– that all sounds great! I wish you were going to be around this weekend. The re-enactor is Jill Cochrane’s nephew Bob Boynton. We’d love to follow up with you further about the firing demo on the helicopter pad. Ted would be SO excited!!!
