Seashore Mallow blooming everywhere

While there is still standing water on the island from the unusual amount of rainfall (Charleston County is up about 10 inches for the year to date, after a spring drought), it is clear that seashore mallow doesn’t mind wet feet.  We have been struck by the beauty of this wildflower along Needlerush walkway before, but I was stopped in my tracks on my way to the Public Works area today.  On the Dewees POA website, Lori states that each flower lives for only a day.  There are thousands today, gently swaying over the black water on the sides of the road, alive with the buzzing of insects visiting them amid the bright yellow flash of the cloudless sulfur butterflies.

Hre Judy, I love this. May I have permission to use some of your images in my novel? Also, fyi, Trent, our son, saw the big cat this week somewhere near Needlrush and the beqch. I’m soooooooooo jealous. If you want to hear his report for your blog, let me know and I’ll email you his email address. I do love your little snippets. xx dershie
