How to Get a Great Snack When you are 55 Minutes Early for the Ferry

We’ve all done it– arrived on the IOP and then been caught behind a garbage or landscape truck, arriving just in time to see the ferry round the bend.  Now you have 55 minutes to hang out at the marina… and luckily, there are some great things to do right here– you don’t even have to move your car.  We have long been known to extoll the virtues of the IOP marina store, which is a wonderful place to while away an hour… and now it’s even better.  The sandwich shop within the marina is now run by local gourmet outfitter Ted’s Butcher Block.  Called Ted’s Dockside, the shop serves breakfast and lunch, with items like biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos, lemon shrimp salad wraps, curried chicken salad, and fried chicken or wagyu beef sandwiches.  We tried the Italian sandwich and it was full of high quality salami and cheeses. Teds has dockside dining, and they even have an ice cream bar where you can get scoops of ice cream.  This might even make a great destination from Dewees when you want a special treat.

It’s easy to see up the creek for the ferry approaching, so you can be sure to catch the boat when it’s time.

Ted’s website says “Come enjoy the dockside seating, or take a picnic to go! Open seven days a week. (843) 886-5606.”

So you can even call ahead from your car and stop by Teds for a pick-up lunch that’s ready for you when you get here.
