As you pass by the docks on the South End of the island while riding the ferry, watch the skies, the platform, and the pine tree for eagles.  Thanks to Ginny Moser for sharing these photos she took this week:

We counted at least 5 eagles at the Christmas bird count:  Three juveniles and two adults.  I didn’t get quite as close, but here is a juvenile in the pine tree right behind the platform:
