I spoke with turtle team leader Gary McGraw today, after he and Lori completed the last inventory of the season. We had a pretty exciting year, beginning with the fact that we promised DNR that Gary would be on island for the entire turtle season from May 15 to October 15. We all owe Gary a huge vote of thanks for this.

The turtle team will be celebrating the end of the season this Friday night on Dewees. Please let Gary know if you will be attending. We know it will be a great time!

Gary thinks that the Dewees record for most live hatchlings is 2003 with Arla at 1395. So this year is the second highest ever, with 1367 and almost ties the record !
