Intrepid crew conducts Wilson’s Plover Survey

Despite the threatening weather, Felicia Sanders from SCDNR came over today to survey our numbers of nesting Wilson’s plovers. Armed with binoculars, spotting scopes, sunscreen and water, we covered almost the whole beach in search of this diminutive endangered bird. I think we found 6 nesting pairs. If you are interested in participating in this sort of thing in the future, be sure to let Lori know. I love to travel the island with people who can really ID the birds and other wildlife: I always learn so much!
