Two floors and one red-tailed hawk! (Look closely.)
The sub tower is visited by raptors of all varieties. Red-tails, however, are probably most common.
The birds benefit from the tower’s unique vantage point. Will people ever be able to do the same? It will be a sad day (and a potential headache) if the tower is left alone to tumble to the salt flats.

Yup, two floors. nice to know I remember a few things from the 1970’s!

This was one of several WW2 fire control towers used to aim the 12inch guns located on Sullivan’s Island. The guns had a range of over 17 miles and were intended to protected Charleston from enemy battleships.
